Beth Stafford Awarded Regional Artist Grant

Local artist Beth Stafford has been awarded a prestigious Regional Artist Grant of $1,594 to develop marketing materials and skills through on-line courses and professional coaching.  The Cabarrus Arts Council joins annually with the North Carolina Arts Council and eight surrounding counties to support artists and their professional development projects through the grants.  Fifteen artists received grants totaling $43,738.35 this year.

Stafford specializes in gouache, a heavy opaque watercolor, and also does some work in basketry, wood constructions and fashion design.  She studied at UNC Greensboro and N.C. State University and teaches at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and at the Icehouse Center in Davidson.  Her work is in a number of corporate collections including Wachovia, Philip Morris USA, Central Carolina Bank, Kimberly-Clark Corporation and American Express.

The Regional Artist Grant will enable Stafford to learn skills to help her market and exhibit her work.
