ARTS COUNCIL SEEKING VOLUNTEERS
FOR ELEMENTARY ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

The Cabarrus Arts Council is seeking volunteers for its Art Enrichment program and will have a one-hour orientation for interested people Friday, October 14.

The orientation will be at 10:30 a.m. at the arts council offices in the Historic Courthouse,
65 Union Street S, Concord.

Art Enrichment volunteers take replicas of famous works of art including paintings, drawings and sculpture to elementary school classrooms and conduct a brief lesson.  Knowledge of art is not required as each replica has information about the work, the artist and ideas for classroom presentation on it.

The Art Enrichment program works as a wonderful supplement to the children’s classroom experience and introduces children to famous works of art that they might never see otherwise.  Volunteers often relate the art to the classroom curriculum, such as color and shape in kindergarten, North Carolina history in the higher grades or special presentations during Black History Month.

The Cabarrus Arts Council ‘s primary mission is to bring the arts to all of Cabarrus County’s citizens.  Last year, the arts council reached more than 200,000 people through programs including Students Take pART in the ARTs, which brings a professional performing arts program to every grade in local schools; Pops in the Park, Union Street Live and Kannapolis Concert series performances; and supporting local arts organizations and individual artists through grants.

For more information about the program or to register for the orientation, please call
