Bistro Performance a Great Success

For most of us, performing before others brings thoughts of dry-mouth syndrome and butterflies in the stomach.  Stage fright is a condition we would rather avoid.  We cannot even imagine acting without a script, yet this is just what the members of Transactors Improv Company do every time they put on a show.  This fine group of actors was founded in Chapel Hill over 20 years ago.  They have appeared at countless schools, colleges, theaters and festivals never knowing for sure what their next scene might involve!  Audience members provide their cues and the usual result is pure hilarity.

Such was the experience for Cabarrus County residents who recently attended Love, Marriage and Other Complicated Relationships:  An Evening of Hors d’oeuvres and Improv.  Greg Hohn, Anoushka Brod, Steven Warnock and Nancy Pekar of Transactors Improv used suggestions from the lively group in attendance to create side-splitting skits and memorable moments.  Movie titles, moments in history, and descriptions of first dates were just a few of the prompts that the talented actors employed to create dialogue that had everyone laughing uproariously.  Guests also enjoyed delicious food and beverages prepared by the Union Street Bistro.  Dinner theater has never been so much fun!

We at the arts council are thrilled that our first ticketed performance in many years was such a success.  Indeed, tickets for Transactors Improv sold out in two weeks.  We established a waiting list weeks and weeks before the event.

We listened carefully to comments made by attendees as they left the performance.  Over and over again we heard, “That was fantastic!  Will you be doing this again soon?”  You can be sure that there is much more to come!  We are currently making plans to provide curtains, stage lighting and a sound system for the theater in the historic Cabarrus County courthouse.  Our goal is to make all this happen as soon as possible.  A performing arts series right in downtown Concord is on the horizon.  We’ll be counting on your support to make this vision a reality!
