Celebrating 25 Years . . . An Arts Council Soirée

The Cabarrus Arts Council will celebrate its 25th anniversary Saturday, May 6, by welcoming the community to a soirée at its new offices in the historic Cabarrus courthouse in downtown Concord.

The evening will feature a performance by senior dancers from the Piedmont Dance Theatre, an exhibition showcasing the works of eleven local professional artists who have received regional or state grants, tours of the historic Cabarrus courthouse and refreshments.

The festivities will begin Friday, May 5, with the opening of Grant Me a Wish, the exhibition by local artists, in the historic courthouse.  The exhibition will remain on view 9 a.m-5 p.m. weekdays through May 12 and  1-5 p.m. during the Concord Spring into Arts Festival on May 6.  It will showcase works by Byron Baldwin, Lin Barnhardt, Ken Barry, Charles Farrell, Carmel Jarvi, Ray Moose, Jeff Pender, Beth Stafford, Char Solomon, Michele Turner and Carol Vuchnich.

The soirée will begin at 7 p.m. with a performance of scenes from Swan Lake by the Piedmont Dance Theatre in the Arts Council Theatre.  Former arts council chairs and executive directors will be recognized.

After the performance and recognitions, guests will be invited to view the exhibition and meet many of the artists, listen to music by the Piedmont Recorder.

Consort and enjoy refreshments downstairs in the future Arts Council Galleries and office spaces.

The Cabarrus Arts Council board of directors and staff look forward to opening our new home to the community.  The exhibition and performance will serve as a preview of artistic events that will take place in this wonderful historic setting.
