Pfeiffer's Stacy Bottoms Spending Semester As Arts Concil Intern

The arts council has had the wonderful experience of hosting an internship for Pfeiffer University arts administration student Stacy Bottoms this semester.

He has helped the arts council in myriad ways, including drawing a seating chart for the Arts Council Theatre and wonderful sketches of the interior of the Historic Courthouse as it will look when the art galleries are completed.  The sketches will be on display during the arts council’s 25th anniversary celebration May 6.

A Kentucky native, Bottoms is an artist in oils and watercolors who has always had a passion for painting.  After high school, he joined the Marines for the G. I. Bill and later studied art history and drawing at the University of Louisville. There he met his future wife who persuaded him to move closer to her family near Charlotte. To support his family, which includes a son in kindergarten, he works nights at Philip Morris USA and during the day is a senior completing his degree at Pfieffer.

Bottoms’ artwork will be featured in an exhibition on auto racing, NASCAR Inspired,” April 29-September 7, at the Hickory Museum of Art.  He also often has works in the Diane Overcash Gallery in downtown Concord.  To learn more about him and see his artwork, please visit his website at www.bottomstudio.com.
