Volunteers Needed for Art Enrichment

The arts council is seeking volunteers for its Art Enrichment program in local elementary schools.

Through the program, volunteers conduct short lessons in classrooms all over Cabarrus County using poster-sized reproductions and sculptures from the arts council’s collection.  The works cover many subject areas and periods in history.  Last year more than 200 volunteers participated in the program.

New volunteers must attend an orientation prior to participating in the program.  At the orientation, they will learn checkout procedures for the artwork and get tips on how to do the lessons.  Orientations are scheduled for Wednesday, September 15, at 10 a.m. and Tuesday, September 28, at 7 p.m.

For information or to register for one of the orientations, call the arts council at 704-782-6610.

Arts Council Offices Have Moved
The arts council’s administrative offices and Art Enrichment collection have moved within the Glenn Center .  To get to our new location, go in the main entrance and take a left at the top of the steps.  Our offices are located in the last suite on the left and Art Enrichment is in the first room on the connecting hallway.

We are very grateful to the Cabarrus County Schools and the Glenn Center staff for our wonderful new space and the assistance they gave us moving.  Thanks also to Technologies Edge for quickly getting our computers up and running.

Thank You, Board Members!
A special thank you to the three people whose terms on the arts council board of directors ended this summer:  Gary Mills, Mark Shelley and Kristy Solomon.  We will miss you and appreciate your many contributions to the arts council.
