Pat Verner
Program and Communications Director
Pat Verner became involved with the Cabarrus Arts Council in the winter of 1999 when she began editing the council's newsletter. She joined the staff in February 2003 as Program Director and also continues as the newsletter editor. She majored in Journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where a senior year internship led to three years as a newspaper reporter. She has also worked in media relations, publications or fundraising for nonprofit organizations, including Hospice of Cabarrus County, UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Charlotte, and Peace College. When Pat's first child was born more than 20 years ago, she started a freelance writing and editing business which she continues to operate from her home. She has been a writer all her life and hopes to someday turn her strange-but-true stories about growing up in Grassy Creek, NC into a novel.

Carrie Myers
Events Coordinator
The annual breakfast in 2003 was the first time Carrie had heard of the Cabarrus Arts Council. The following year she co-chaired the breakfast, joined the Board of Directors in July and resigned in February 2005 to assume the position of Office Manager. "I seriously decided to take pART in the ARTs!" A native of Rushsylvania, Ohio, she received undergrad and graduate degrees from The Ohio State University in nursing. While a critical care nurse and educator, she kept an active hand in the arts as a performer and choreographer. A newcomer to NC in 2000, connecting through musical theatre was natural. She helped found The Cabarrus Playmakers and served as President of that group for four years. Carrie began the docent program for the galleries in 2007 and is currently working in planning special events for the council.
